The Department of Home Affairs has updated minimum English requirements for popular visa subclasses in 2025. These changes impact skilled, student, and family visas.

Updated Scores

• IELTS: Minimum overall 6.5 (with no band lower than 6.0).
• PTE Academic: Minimum overall 58.
• TOEFL iBT: Minimum overall 79.

The changes are part of Australia’s plan to ensure migrants can successfully integrate and contribute to the economy.
